Three-Card Reading
Three cards reveal what you say the problem is, what is actually driving it underneath, and the move that changes the pattern. Rosalind reads the spread as an emotional diagnosis, not a prediction.
Sample Session
Your words were these: uncertain about my job situation and how to approach my upcoming performance review. Underneath that sits a different question, and I will state it as I read it. You are not asking how to perform well in a meeting. You are asking whether you are permitted to want something specific from your working life, and whether saying it out loud will cost you.
Three cards are on the table now, side by side. Mind on the left, Body in the centre, Spirit on the right.
──────
◆ Mind
The King of Cups, reversed. A figure on a throne set in moving water, holding a cup he never once looks at. Reversed, the composure has hardened into something else: feeling managed rather than felt.
What you have been telling yourself is that the correct posture for this review is neutrality. Say nothing that could be read as complaint. Accept the assessment. Be gracious, be measured, do not become the person who makes the room awkward. That instinct is not wrong about the tone of the meeting, and it is completely wrong about the content. You have confused being calm with being silent, and the cost is that you will leave the room having agreed to a plan you did not write.
Replace the rehearsal. Do not practise how to receive feedback. Practise one sentence that states what you want next, and practise it until you can say it in an even voice. Calm delivery of a direct request is still calm.

◆ Body
The Ace of Wands, upright, in the centre. A hand extended out of nowhere holding a single branch that is still growing leaves. Nothing has been built with it yet. It is simply there, offered.
Here is what your actual conditions contain, XXX, and it does not match the story above. There is live material in your working life right now: a piece of work you are better at than you admit, a direction that has already begun to open, or a person who has noticed you and has not yet been given anything to act on. Upright and unreversed, in the position that reads the material facts, this says the opportunity is genuinely present and genuinely unclaimed.
I will name what you have been avoiding. Nobody is going to hand you a career path in the review. Reviews assess the past. The development plan you want by the end of this month is a document you write, not one you receive. This week, before the meeting, put three things on one page: what you have actually delivered since the last review, what you want to be doing twelve months from now, and the one skill or assignment that bridges the two. Bring the page.
──────
◆ Spirit
The World, reversed. A figure inside a wreath, mid-turn, the circle closed around them. Reversed, the wreath is still there and the completion is being measured against the wrong ruler.
What you actually want is not promotion and it is not reassurance. You want your work to add up to something. You want the hours to belong to a shape you recognise as yours, rather than to a sequence of tasks that happen to be assigned to you. You have decided this is an unreasonable thing to ask an employer for, so you have translated it downward into confidence in my career path, which is a smaller and safer word for the same hunger. It is not unreasonable. It is simply not something a manager can give you unprompted.

◆ The gap, and what I would do about it
The widest gap sits between Mind and Body, and the two cards actively pull against each other: water against fire, restraint against a live spark. You are living against your own conditions. Your circumstances contain an opening and your thinking has already decided to be gracious about not getting one. That gap costs you the review itself, which passes and does not repeat for a year.
The Mind position carries the most strain. Spirit has been ignored longest, and it is the one that has been quietly funding everything.
One action, inside this week. Write a single sentence beginning with the words "Over the next twelve months I want to", finish it with something concrete enough to be scheduled, and say that sentence first when the review turns to development. Not third. First.
You are not confused, XXX. You are well informed about your situation and reluctant to act on what you already know, which is a different and far more workable problem. Bring me questions about any part of this and I will go further into it with you.

Description
You may know what happened and still not understand why it affects you this much. This spread is designed for that gap.
The three positions uncover
The surface experience and the story around it
The deeper emotional mechanism
The need, fear, or defense maintaining the pattern
The difference between the trigger and the cause
The action most likely to create movement
I do not use tarot to label you or to guess an ending. I use the relationship between the cards to make an internal pattern visible in plain language.
Bring the situation you keep circling and the reaction you cannot quite explain. The reading will name what is actually going on, show what the pattern has been trying to do for you, and offer one grounded way through.
